BCME10 Proceedings: Writing and Reviewing
Following BCME10, presenters of research or enquiry-focused sessions and posters are invited to submit a paper for consideration for publication in the peer-reviewed BCME10 Proceedings, which will be published on the BSRLM website.
Papers must relate to work presented at BCME10, be original and not have been published or be under review elsewhere. We welcome papers reporting both completed and ongoing research, including work with preliminary findings. We particularly encourage submissions from those who have not previously published a research paper.
Writing for the Proceedings
Papers should make a contribution to research in mathematics education, with a clear focus and rationale, and links to relevant existing research. Both empirical research and theoretical or philosophical papers are welcome. Papers should be written for an international mathematics education audience.
Papers must be no more than 8 pages, including references, and must be written directly into the BCME10 Proceedings Template. The template incorporates the required styles, including those supporting accessibility. Papers which do not use the template will be returned without review.

Documents for authors
You should save your paper as “First author’s surname_BCME” (e.g., Marks_BCME.docx). Please submit your proceedings paper and the completed BCME10 Author Statements by email to bcme10@education.ox.ac.uk
The deadline for submitting papers is 24 November 2026.
Following peer review, authors will receive reviewers' comments together with editorial guidance on revisions. Revised papers must be submitted by 16 February 2027. The editorial team will make final decisions about inclusion in the Proceedings.
Reviewing for the Proceedings
Peer reviewing by authors and co-authors is an important contribution to the BCME research community. Reviews help authors to strengthen their papers and inform the editorial team's decisions about inclusion in the Proceedings. All authors are required to participate in the reviewing of papers submitted to the proceedings.
We ask reviewers to provide constructive and specific feedback, identifying the strengths of a paper and explaining where clarification or further development is needed. Papers may be submitted by those relatively new to research as well as by experienced researchers, and may report work that is still in progress.
Reviews should consider the focus and rationale of the research, its relationship to existing literature, the methods, analysis and argument, and the communication and presentation of the paper. The Reviewing Guidelines provide further details of these criteria and the review process.
Please use the Review Template to complete your review. Reviews will be shared with authors, so comments should be written with this in mind. Any confidential comments for the editors should be included separately in the email accompanying the review.
